Criteria of service

Kuva
T he criteria for good care and service mean that the client receives proper and necessary care when it is needed. The client has the right to evidence-based and high-quality treatment.  The customer must be treated with respect and they have the right to receive information about their situation. Self-determination is important, which means that care is planned in cooperation with the client, and they have the right to refuse treatment. Decisions are made with thinking the client's benefits. The client should be aware of their rights.  If the treatment doesn't meet expectations, a discussion with social and healthcare staff can solve the situation but a written objection can also be given to the director responsible. A patient ombudsman is needed when a client feels that they haven't received proper care or help; the care has been incorrect or dangerous or it hasn't been received on time. The patient ombudsman advices and advocates clients for their rights. It promotes...

Social Media

Kuva
I got to know a website called "Pelastakaa Lapset ry". It is a client organization that promotes children's rights. Besides their websites they also use for example Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. By using social media they try to share information and wake emotions in people for example using pictures. In Facebook they post information about upcoming events and current news. On Instagram they campaign for things related to donations. On YouTube there is a lot of informative content and personal experience stories.  When thinking about advantages and disadvantages of using social media: Using social media it is easy to reach people, raise awareness and get people to donate.  But things related to children you must be really careful online. Also the organization's campaigning on social media takes time and skills.  I would develop the organization so that there would be more collaboration with schools in social media: Training and raising awareness for teachers online...

Customership and professional dialogue

Professional encounter videos What kind of encounter is required as a professional in these situations? Video 1. The client in the first video is stubborn and doesn't want to change, even though she understands the problems are real. She has problems with her blood pressure but insists that she lives well.  As a professional= I am not allowed to argue with the client but I must focus on the positive things and boost her. Then I could propose that could any change make her life even better. The reason she doesn't want to change may be that she is afraid of it. So I have to be respectful and give her space to talk about things that feel scary. Video 2. The client in the second video is difficult to approach and withdrawn. She doesn't look at the professional or say a word when the professional asks her about things that happened at the workplace.  As a professional= I don't force her to talk and I to her calmly. I know she might not feel safe so I'll let her be quiet....

Reflection about cultural communication

I learned from cultural communication that adapting to a new, different culture can bring many challenges. There are many different languages in the world, which can be completely different from each other (for example different letters and pronunciation). Social life is different in different cultures. Some countries are more social than others and people need socialization more in their lives. People come from different backgrounds and employment opportunities in another culture can be a positive or negative surprise. Jobs in different countries can be very different depending the standard of living. People can have their own personal needs related to the culture, which are not important to someone from another culture, such as religion, clothing, routines. W hat I consider when meeting a client from another culture: I am open and want to talk to them, so I can get to know them better. I ask them politely if there is something about their culture that concerns me. I stay respectf...
